On Ai's official site, the news item posted on February 23, 2008 says:
Quote:
オピニオンリーダーに決定!
2008年2月、オピニオンリーダーとして、
経済産業省「若年層を対象とした地球温暖化問題に関する広報・調査事業(平成19年度地球温暖化問題対策調査)」 に協力する事が決定しました。
eye on jpopmusic.com forums surmises:
Quote: as far as i can make it out, Ai is considered to be an opinion leader of young people and has been asked by the Japanese Government's Ministry of Economy to participate in their research into global warming. or something like that. seems like she is more involved in the environmental movement than just singing at those Live Earth concerts.
Google Translate provided this translation: Quote: Opinion leaders decided!
February 2008, as an opinion leader,
Ministry of Economy, "aimed at young people about the problem of global warming public relations research projects (as of 19-year global warming research Issue)" is determined to cooperate with the matter.
i think that is really cool. I watched Ai's Live Earth performance and really admired the fact that she participated in the concert. It seems that Ai has been selected as a representative of young people to discuss how to take action in this important cause to solve the problem of global warming and the climate crisis. (Another of my favorite artists, Wang Lee-hom, also participated in the Live Earth concert, and his latest album was part of his effort to contribute and get his fans to take the initiative and get involved. Maybe Ai will do something similar. )
If anyone could provide a complete translation of the news item, I and other Ai fans would much appreciate it. Please post any information you discover. |

Save the whales much?
Japan:
Currently Researching - Whether Japanese people still enjoy eating whale or not
Current Results - No not really...but f*** off we'll do what we like
Perhaps someone should deal with this topic as well since whales are far closer to becoming extinct than we are by the very problem we created ourselves....oh well, at least some people are trying to save the world |

| ^ mm I guess I did stray too far off the topic....my bad. Kinda just wanted to point out there are other issues Japan should be taking responsibility for first |

I remember reading about this earlier, but the Ministry of Economy hasn't mentioned a thing about Ai's assistance in the environmental cause on their website. |

Gotcha, hiro. Thank you, though. I found a pic of her at the Ministry's office and uploaded it to the gallery if anyone wants to check it out.

Here's a larger version (from a quick google search) of the original picture hiro posted. I think... I want both posters now. |
