Hey,
I really need some new earphones cause my old ones are defect.
There are so many earphones which causes confusion with buying them.
I just can't choose which ones i should buy and which ones won't brake very fast.
Can someone please help me with choosing? |

| Well, there are a lot of earphones out there. How about you narrow it down for us so we could help you out. Do you want earphones that go over year ears like the big ones DJs use or do you want the ones that fit into your ears like the standard ipod ones. Another important thing is how much you're willing to pay for these babies. What does your budget look like? |

Jester is right, you have to narrow it down especially the price.
I personally use these: http://www.shure.com/PersonalAudio/Products/Earphones/ESeries/us_pa_E2c_content
You can't get them anymore as they're discontinued and I know it sounds pricey but I got them as a present and I wouldn't have mind buying them for myself. The thing is I hate headphones, it's not so bad if you're just listening at home but when you travel with headphones, if they crack or break that the top it's broken. And cheap earphones don't last (at least for me and most people I've talked to about this subject). I use to go through earphones anywhere from 3 months to a year. It was extremely annoying to always have to track down a new pair.
I've had these Shure earphones for 2years+ and they haven't been broken on me yet *knock on wood* so the price is worth it (had I actually brought them). Plus I really love the sound quality. If I have it at mid volume or more I can hear distinct musical instruments or synthesizes used in that song.
My colleagues seem to like skullcandies (which are more decently priced) and another good earphone/headphone company is Bose but they're expensive too.
I'd do a bit of homework and narrow down the field a bit and than ask again.
And if you want better sound quality, I'd recommend earphones with noise cancellation earphones. |

Oh sorry
I usually have the normal earphones which don't go entirely in your ears so i actually want the same cause i think those in-ears get really dirty and slimy
About the money, well i really don't want to spend more then 100 Euro, which is about 141 US Dollars.
Ps. normal earphones with clips are also good for me |

you should check out Sennheiser PX 100. i have had these for about 3 years now and i wouldnt be without them. they have a strong, clear bass and deliver an amazing sound for their price and size. depending on the music, i actually prefer them to a much pricier pair i have (also Sennheiser).
here is a celebrity endorsement of the PX 100:

I'm thinking of getting new headphones (well, asking for Christmas anyways )
But anyways...
I want those real big ones! Like, that go over your head, and have noise cancellation and all that jazz.
I saw Skullcandies at Target, and thought they had cool designs, so I decided to check their website.
I was thinking of this style.
So sakuraangel, you said some of your friends like this brand? So is it a pretty good brand, then?
Tell me what you think, guys! |

I might buy these (the RS130). I'm intending to go for wireless, as although it probably decreases sound quality by a minuscule amount, I always end up breaking the wire, and spending that much on headphones to last ~year is not great
Anyways, I would always go with headphones if wanting the best sound quality, as earphones just suck, and are only acceptable due their portability.
RS130
(by the way amazon doesn't have the greatest prices, just the everybody knows amazon )
I just need to find £60 now
I watch a lot of films with headphones (therefore defeating the point of me having surround sound ), so it would not just be Ai that would benefit from buying these. Of course, if you wanted decent sound, but not just keeping it all to yourself, I would suggest buying a 5.1 for your PC (or Hi-Fi). Although Ai probably isn't the right music to really appreciate from a surround sound unit (as there is little bass, etc), it still sounds amazing. I remember upgrading up from stereo to 5.1 and was truly amazed!
You can pick them up pretty cheap today, like these:
UK:
Creative I Trigue T6100 Speakers OEM
Philips SPA2600 5.1 Channel 70W
US:
Logitech X-530 5.1 Speaker System (mine )
Logitech X-540 5.1
Definitely worth it! I promise

^ Yeah, I need headphones though, because I use a laptop, so I can't really set up a little speaker system...
I thought about wireless too, but I think I'm gonna go with the wire, since these headphones will most likely not be traveling with me too much, so the wire won't necessarily get killed. I use earbuds, even though yes, they suck, but they fit in my pocket and/or my backpack very easily.
If I did have a PC, I wouldn't hesitate to get a really nice 5.1 sound system though, because I'm sure it does sound just amazing. (I would really like to hear Hikki's "Passion" in surround... )
Oh, and Kingyo Hanabi has a really nice bass sound though. |

@KerushiiAi: Yeah I can understand if you have a laptop, and that also explains why wired is probably better for you, as with wireless you obviously have to have a receiver, which with every one I have seen looks quite big

Yeah, you are right - I have listened out for low-frequency effects more, and I have discovered that a lot of Otsuka's tracks do have quite a distinctive bass

Good song?

@ KerushiiAi - I can't say that I'd personally recommend a skullcandy since I've never actually owned their products but a lot of my co-workers do use this brand, one specific guy I can think of uses the G.I. series, he has the camo version and he asked me to listen to the podcast once and the sound quality was quite nice for what skullcandies sell at.
Skullcandies are super popular in my city as I see it when I'm walking downtown or when I'm on a bus so my assumption is that it's pretty good brand since so many people seem to buy into it and I haven't heard anything negative about it. Headphones can be a bit more fragile, but my the people I know who have them are usually on the go/taking the bus/tossing it in their bags in a hurry, and I have yet to see them break.
@ EvilAnsem.- yea earbuds vs earphones are a bit hard to get use to. I definitely took me some time to get use to earbuds but really it only took a couple of days. Market wise, I don't see earphones being produced as much are earbuds anymore. Hmm considering your location, I'd still recommend brands like Shure, Sony, Bose or even Sennheiser. It's good that you're planning to go for something in the +$100 since anything ranging $10-$40 won't last long. If you're thinking about using earphones for good quality music and will be listening in places like schools or buses, I'd recommending looking at earphones with noise-cancellation too. |

@ tdclarke
Yeah, my laptop kinda forces me to deal with wired headphones...but the soft keyboard makes it worth it
Yeah, after I got my new earbuds I noticed lots of bass sounds in songs I'd not noticed before. See, my old earbuds were about...oh, maybe half a year old? They were the ones that came with my iPod (so not the greatest to begin with) and I didn't know how incredibly broken they were until I got new ones. They were all blown out, and I had somehow managed to get water in them, so the bass sounds were completely eliminated, oh, and I got paint on them during art class...basically, they were trashed.
Oh, and like Negaiido said, Passion is a beautiful song. The sound is really...deep sounding... It's hard to explain, but it's really an amazing song, you should listen to it.
@ Negaiido
I agree, Passion is better than Sanctuary. Not that Sanctuary's not good but...
@ sakuraangel
Hmm...I was thinking about getting the "Hesh" style. I looked at the G.I. one, but if I did decide to bring it to school, I don't want to get in trouble for the fake bullets on it.
Well, if lots of people use them, then they're probably pretty decent, and the prices aren't outrageous either. |

Right *cough*9 days later*cough* I have finally listened to "Passion" - Great song! I need to hear more Utada Hikaru, as I have only heard a few of her English language tracks
Thank you Negaiido for the upload, and KerushiiAi for the recommendation
As for earphones....erm....
I really don't know what ones to get I might just stick with my crappy £15 ones until I find some ones I actually want
