I have some question. When you want to type out 円, you type "en" instead of "yen", is there any reason for this? Also, I changed your title from "Joshio" to "Joushio", I think the latter one is the correct pronounciation right?
Seems like Ai always use は in her lyrics, is it commonly used in Japanese? How do you use it? "shiawase wa nai wa" vs. 'shiawase nai", is there any difference between both, I mean what if I take out the "wa" from the sentence.
I'm kinda confused with the usage of に as well, seems like it always appear in the lyrics.

Well, in Japanese, they don't say yen, then say en. I personally don't have any idea why it turned into yen here and other places in the world, but there must be a good reason for it. Maybe it's just easier to say. I found this though:
The spelling and pronunciation of the letter y is based on romanization of a writing of the word. The same occurs in words such as Uyeda, Iyeyasu and Inouye. Like the spellings of names of people outside Japan, the romanization of yen has become a permanent feature.
Thanks for changing the name!  Some people use joushio, some people use joshio! 
Yeah, Ai tends to use は (ha, pronounced in this case, wa) a lot. Yes, ha is verrry commonly used. It's just like saying is, or any other commonly used word. It basically means "is". So, if someone says, "Channel-ai ha tanoshii" it would me Channel-ai is fun. (tanoshii=fun). I think everything sounds more emphasized with ha. Like your example, "shiawase wa nai wa" versus "shiawase nai", "shiawase wa nai wa" has more of an emphasis of there not being shiawase, happiness.
に (ni) is hard to explain, and it means different things sometimes. Like, someone could say "gohan ni osakana" (gohan=rice and sakana=fish) and it would mean rice with fish. But then, you could say "hitori ni nareru" (hitori=alone and nareru=to get to) and it would mean "To get alone". o_O Japanese is weird. I think in this way, the ni would be for the verb to act on the...adjective. I think.  |
